AGM Special

2601 Affiche AGA Invitation
The Blue Sea Lake Watershed Association will hold its 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, July 23rd from 10 to noon at the Municipal Hall in Messines. Registration will begin at 9:30. Please plan to be there. The meeting will focus on advocacy efforts and plans to help control Eurasian milfoil.

On the Agenda
2602 depliants Advocacy : The Association President - Dick Ryan - will update members on the various measures it has taken during the past year to promote greater municipal, regional, and provincial action in protecting our fragile lakes and waterways.

2603 Myriophylle Jute Tarp Project: The installation of jute tarps to help control the spread of Eurasian milfoil in Blue Sea Lake will be discussed. Working in close collaboration with ABV des 7, the regional not-for-profit watershed protection agency, our Association has applied for provincial authorization to:
  • mechanically install jute tarps over three beds of Eurasian milfoil in high-traffic areas of the lake (the Municipality of Blue Sea has allocated $8,000 to cover the two beds in its portion of the lake), and
  • allow lakeshore property owners to use 40 sq metre jute tarp kits to control the milfoil near their docks/swimming areas.
2604 Installation de jute To help explain the nature and scope of this project, Giorgio Vecco, Executive Director of ABV des 7, will describe how the installation of the tarps will be effected and what results we can expect. In addition, Rob Perrins, the contractor who will install the tarps and supply the jute tarp kits for individual property owners, will be on hand to answer questions regarding costs, installation procedures, etc.

2605 AGA Q&A Period :   As in past AGMs, there will be a question and answer period during which members can raise any concerns they have regarding the state of the watershed. This is a very important part of the AGM as the issues discussed help determine the Association’s focus and future priorities.

Elections:  The AGM will conclude with elections to fill the vacant positions on the Administrative 2606 vote Council. To learn more about the work of the council, please click here.
