December 3rd – Association Congratulates Village Récréotouristique Majopial for their Environmenally Responsible Action

Certificat Majopial

On December 3rd, Dick Ryan and Robert Duval, president and vice-president of the Blue Sea Lake Watershed Association, presented the Association's 'Environmentally Responsible Action' certificate to the Village Récréotouristique Majopial in recognition of its policy of excluding pyrotechnical displays from celebratory and promotional activities. Accepting the certificate on behalf of the organization, Sophie Karn indicated that it would be displayed proudly in Majopial's l'Huile d'Olive Restaurant.

The Association contracted ABV des 7 to carry out a survey to determine the extent and location of Eurasian Milfoil beds infesting Blue Sea Lake. According to the survey, mono-specific Eurasian milfoil beds cover over 500,000 sq. metres of the lake bottom. The map opposite shows the areas of the worse infestation; click on it for an enlargement. For more on the results of this survey, click here.


July 11th - Annual General Meeting

The 7th Annual General Meeting was held at the Blue Sea church 10 AM to noon. Welcome and registration took place from 9:30 AM.

May 23rd - Tree Distribution

With the aim of vegetating our shorelines and protecting our lakes, the Blue Sea Lake Watershed Association, in partnership with the municipalities of Blue Sea and Messines, distributed free of charge seedlings from a number of different trees, made available courtesy of the Gatineau Valley MRC, including white spruce, red pine, yellow birch, black cherry, bur oak, and American elm. The distribution took place at two locations: in front of the Municipal Hall at Messines and at the presbytery in Blue Sea.

January 11th – Website Improvements

1917b Page accueil enWe have recently transferred the website to a new platform that gives us greater flexibility in content display, allowing us to make the website more user friendly.
With the transfer to this new platform:
  • the “Search” function is now at the top of each page, making it much easier to access;
  • there is a direct link between the English and French versions of each page;
  • the website directory has been expanded and is very easy to navigate.
Additional enhancements will follow.
